Admission Requirements

Candidates should hold a Bachelor’s degree/First degree (180 ECTS) in the field of Life Sciences (Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences, Pharmacy), with the final grade of at least 14 (out of 20). Applicants with lower grades may be considered provided they have additional technical or research experience (research traineeship, Erasmus programme). Degrees in other fields might be considered provided the candidate proves his/her interest for Life Sciences at the cellular and molecular level.

Selection criteria:

  • Grades of Bachelor’s degree/First degree*;
  • Additional technical or research experience;
  • Field of Bachelor’s/first degree:
  • Motivation letter;
  • Interview (if requested).


*Degrees also considered:
Foreign degrees in the field of Life Sciences (Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences, Pharmacy), obtained after 1st cycle studies according to Bologna’s Process;

Holders of an academic degree obtained abroad, recognized as meeting the objectives of a Bachelor’s degree by FCTUC’s Scientific Council, in the field of Life Sciences (Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences, Pharmacy);

In duly justified cases, holders of a scientific and professional curriculum relevant to the attendance of this cycle of studies, previously recognized by FCTUC’s Scientific Council.
